River Stage Fluctuations in the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers Over Time

Biography

Shaina Brown is a senior from Arlington, VA, double majoring in Earth and Environmental Science and Environmental Studies. Their honors thesis researches how river stage (water level) of the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers has changed over time. Any trends that are present have implications for the viability of businesses and communities along these fluctuating rivers. Shaina worked closely with Dr. Nicole Gasparini in the Earth and Environmental Science department throughout their research. After graduation, they will be working for the Montana Department of Environmental Quality conducting water quality monitoring all over the state. Outside of school, Shaina plays on the Tulane Muses Ultimate Frisbee team and hikes and paddles all over the Gulf South with Tulane Outdoor Adventures.
