Biography
Carly Shaffer is a senior from Reston, Virginia studying Political Science and Communication with a minor in Gender & Sexuality Studies. Her thesis analyzes gubernatorial responses to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States under President Trump and assesses their implications for future patterns of American federalism. She credits Dr. Anna Mitchell Mahoney, for whom she has worked as a research assistant since her freshman year, for instilling in her a passion for state politics. Outside of school, Carly loves exploring New Orleans with friends, running in Audubon Park, and creating elaborate playlists for every occasion. After graduation, she hopes to work at a public relations agency.
